I’ve been looking forward to sharing this for a long time. Before I show you the final cover, I want to take a moment to thank the two designers who made it happen. This was a true collaboration. One artist created the main illustration, and another stepped in for the final detailing and polish. Together, they knocked it out of the park. What they delivered is exactly what I envisioned: a cover that looks like it stepped right out of a 1980’s bookstore shelf : soft, romantic, kinda dreamy, and unmistakably 80’s.

Getting here wasn’t easy. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I went through several versions of this cover. I loved pieces of each attempt, but nothing ever felt like the one. The biggest challenge was explaining the specific aesthetic I wanted. I did not want a modern reinterpretation of the eighties (the typical trendy, abstract, minimal concept). I needed that real era-specific look. The kind of cover you’d find in the hands of a girl on a porch swing in 1984, fully absorbed in the story and the moment. For this concept to take shape, I studied the covers of romance novels from that era.

A lot of designers interpreted “1980’s” through a very contemporary lens, and the results leaned too modern or too conceptual. Pretty, yes. But not quite what I wanted.

So I started searching for someone who specialized in actual retro art.
That’s how I found the illustrator who ultimately created the core image. The moment he sent the first draft, I knew this was it. The tone, the palette, the softness, everything aligned with my vision. He understood exactly what I meant when I said “1984 romance cover,” and he delivered on the first try. After that, my second designer refined the details, fixed small elements, and made it print-ready. It all came together better than I expected, and I’m truly grateful for their work.

Now that the cover is finished, I can finally start releasing more from the world of Teresia.

Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing small samples, behind-the-scenes notes, and a few early promotional pieces. And (this part is important) there will be a very limited batch of advance copies circulating soon. Not digital ARCs, but physical ones. They’re exclusive, and only a handful of readers will receive them.
